Can you use a home hair colourant when you have salon coloured hair. I want to revert back from blond.?

I have salon (honey blond) hair and my natural colour is dark blond. I have read things like dye hair red first then brown, but its more of a light brown look I want now dark brown. Can you use a home hair colourant when you have salon coloured hair. I want to revert back from blond.?
YESCan you use a home hair colourant when you have salon coloured hair. I want to revert back from blond.?
When I went from platinum blonde back to brown last year, my hair was really dry and snapping, so I went to the hairdresser who first of all put a bright red toner on which helps to build up the colour and then put a medium brown colour on to finish. Since then I have used home colourant, but didn't want to take the chance 1st time round as my hair was in terrible condition. My hair now looks in great condition, but I think if I did a home job first of all the results may have been embarrassing.

I would definitely ask your hairdresser for advice, or if you're a bit skint, you can get a trainee hairdresser to do it for you which will cost a fraction of the price, but will still use quality products.
shouldnt be a problem do a strand test first or whichever dye you buy have helpline numbers on that you can ring and they will tell you
I coloured by hair from a honey blonde to a dark chocolate brown using a home colourant. However, my hair was highlighted using bleach, so the result could be different if it's a different type of dye thats normally used on your hair. I would suggest doing a strand test in an inconspicuous place in your hair and wait to see how that develops. Good luck!
IF U HAVE HAD BLEACH IN UR HAIR USE A RED FIRST AS ITS A PIGMENT COLOUR THEN GO OVER WIYH THE COLOUR OV OR CHOICE GOOD LUCK
Never ever try to darken blond hair at home! I did and my hair went a misty grey colour. Had to pay a salon a fortune to sort it!
Put a red toner on your hair. Do not put a red permanent dye on. The red toner will cling to any blonde but not in a dark red way. You can then apply a light brown to your hair. As you wash your hair the red toner will fade out and the light brown will look more natural.
yes you can but you must leave a couple of days in between dying your hair. you might not be able to do it one go you might have to ligthen your hair gradually but if you go to a hair salon they can do it as my niece has had it done
yes you can ,
It all depends on how long ago you colored your hair. You can not keep coloring it because you will cause breakage.
You need to pre pigment your hair again. You will need to get a red colour to put all over your hair.Once that has taken rinse it out, leave your hair wet and apply a light brown on top of this.Light brown is pretty dark, plus you don't want to stray too much from your natural colour. You should maybe buy two packets of the brown colour to make sure every bit of your hair is covered!

The reason you need to put the red in your hair first is because if you put brown straight over the blonde you will get a greeny hue from your hair which will get worse as the brown fades
You have to use a red toner with the light brown color. Sometimes an orange toner works better because the red can make it have a pink undertone. I think you should see a hair color specialist. Good luck.
It is absolutely fine to dye your hair dark again when it has been dyed blond in a salon. It will take the colour well, but be warned that it will fade overtime, maybe even after a few washes. You may have to dye it again after a few weeks. The only way to keep the hair colour dark would be to dye it red to put the pigment back into the hair and then dye it dark. This would make the colour last longer. If you are still unsure about the advise do a strand test first. I work in a salon so i know what i am talking about
Yes of course. Color it what you want. :) Good luck.
no it will change the colour of your hair to two tones which will look awful. get professional advive.
Hi, By adding red you add the pigment into your hair, which holds the brown. You need to add ash brown over the top to get a flat brown - but as a qualified hairdresser I'd recommend going to a salon to get it done, do it wrong and you're hair will be green tinted or even worse bright red!
