Running a Salon in Sims 2 Open For Business?

In Sims 2 Open For Business, how would one run a salon? I have the salon chair, and I can offer a makeover, but no one ever goes to sit down to let me give them a makeover unless its free. Help?Running a Salon in Sims 2 Open For Business?
Just like a customer trying to decide whether they want to buy something or not, they have to decide whether they want a makeover or not. If the customer does not have the ';hmmm...how bad do I want this?'; decision meter over her head, then you need to perform a Sales interaction on the potential customer. Click on the customer and look for the ';sales...'; interaction. If you don't have any sales-talent badges yet, then the only sales approach you have is the ';basic sell.'; Don't perform the service for free unless you made him look like the joker; it's the least you can do to fix your mistake then.

Sell them on the idea, and then they'll allow you to whip out the scissors and powder puff.

It's actually a good thing that all your customers aren't brave enough to plop down in the salon chair right away. You need time to finish your current customer as the others crowd around. This is the perfect opportunity to enhance their moods, so give them objects that they can interact with. Put some magazines in the salon -- you know, the ones you have to buy individually from the magazine rack at the grocery store that increases certain interests. Have your stylist actually go somewhere to buy a magazine or two and then place them on a table in the salon. Put a television set on the wall or a pinball machine in the corner. Once your business picks up, you'll wish you had these distractions for them all.
