For those who work in a an Asian salon only two questions?

I go twice a month for a fill and once a month for a pedicure. I always's pay the amount of the bill when the owner does my fill, no tip however when the girl does my feet I tip her since she is an employee. Am I to assume that he is making some money off me and does not need the tip? is the girl making an hourly wage or just what we pay her and a tip? I want to do what is right since they do a good job. I do get annoyed with all the Asian talk back and forth I think it can be rude at times.For those who work in a an Asian salon only two questions?
Here's an idea: find out which Asian language they are speaking and learn to say ';thank you'; in it. They will be surprised and pleased that you made the effort and may no longer gossip about you quite as blatantly. You should tip them both for the work that they do. I wouldn't be surprised if they are talking about you if you don't tip the owner!!!
When tipping one should always tip the employees, but one is not expected to tip the owner.
Depends. Sometimes they rent their spaces from the owner/operator of the salon and get paid depending on how much they work and some are employed by the salon, receive a wage and tips. Any job where tipping is involved usually means the hourly wage isn't great. You should always tip for services like this unless they did shoddy work.
i dont do salon but i am a regular customer of one.. according to them, they are paid in a minimum wage plus tip. but the tip is not necessary coz they there to do there job for you. but be gracious enough to give one if u are satisfied with their services. i think a dollar up to 5 dollar is good enough for a tip.. dont mind if they talk in their own language. i suggest, u go to a first class salon if u dont want to be disturb.
you should tip whoever does the nails...regardless if he owns it or not.


the asian gossip...they are talking nonsense like what they had for lunch. 99% of the time they r not talking about clients.


asian speaking = cheap manicures, and you know it so u put up w/ it. :)
If you don't like it don't go there, go to an American salon, i don't like it either that is why i switched, but i do tip everyone that works on me, whether they are the owner or not.. And the employees do get an hourly wage but it is less than half of the minimum wage fee, because they get tips

As a Singaporean Chinese and just an info as my country do discourage of tipping, is a form of ';bribe'; but an acknowledgement is encourage like words or a card. In your case, if you'll are happy and satisfied then a small tip will do, otherwise then don't frequent there anymore. Should those employee say this or that then forget it, dear ! never visit that place again even how good it is !
