Oil treatments or deep conditioning at a salon - worth the money or not?

How well does it work? Does it help tame frizz? Any alternatives I can do at home that work just as well?Oil treatments or deep conditioning at a salon - worth the money or not?
That depends.

It's worth the money if you're already there and you've have some kind of chemical treatment. (color, perm, etc.) At my salon, the stylist only charges $10 extra.

Otherwise, you can do these fairly easily at home. V05 Showerworks is cool because you don't have to heat it up. It works with the heat of your shower and you can control how much you use. It's about $5.

Deep conditioning can be done with your regular conditioner and adding other ingredients to it like oils (olive, avocado, jojoba, etc.), coconut milk. mashed ripe avocado or mashed ripe banana. If you don't like the idea of adding that kind of stuff, you can just apply your conditioner, put a shower cap over it and sit under the dryer for 10 minutes on low , or just do your housework while wearing the showercap. If you're looking to buy a product, v05 Total Har Recovery and Neutrogena Triple Moisture Deep Conditioner are pretty good.

Hope this helps.Oil treatments or deep conditioning at a salon - worth the money or not?
Yeah it's all the same stuff they just wanna charge you an arm and a leg. Go to sally beauty supply they have a huge selection of different types of hot oil treatments. I really like Tresemme hot oil(walmart) the best...better than V05
you can do a at home treatment eaily.

youll need

clarifying shampoo--- this is a deep cleaning shampoo it lifts any and all residue from daily life off yor strands. to get maximum effect it should be left on the hair for 4-5 min.

rince with warm water until the water runs clear.

now for the conditioner---a reconstructor type conditioner. mixed with a hydrating to make a cotail.

now you need a shower cap---with it on your head it will trap body heat and help the conditioner get further into the shaft.

if you have access to a hood dryer the heat will do this faster.

1 hour if no dryer

20 min if you do

when you rince, rince with warn water first then use cool to tepid water to finish, this helps to close the outer layer of the hair, helping to minimise frizz. when you towel off, blott the hair, dont rub, rubbing makes friz. so blott the hair.

now before you reach for the comb or brush, you'll need some leave in coditioner. a spray is easier to controle the product placement.

i like matrix
you can use hot oild treatments sold in the drugstore that work just as well and for 1/4 the price, VO5 for example, it comes in little tubes
you could purchase oil treatments %26amp; deep conditioners at your local drug stores instead of spending money at a salon
